Information Sessions
The College of Medicine does not hold Information Sessions.
The Purpose of an Information Session
SUNY Downstate offers Information Sessions for prospective
students to provide following the services:
- provide more information about
the program
- meet the faculty
- provide advisement about prerequisite
course requirements and admissions criteria (bring unofficial copies of
your transcripts to the Information Session if you wish to receive course
advisement).
How to Register for an Information Session
To register
for an Information Session, complete the on-line registration
form or send an email to admissions@downstate.edu with
your name, the name of the program you are interested in, and the date
of Information Session you have selected.
How to Obtain Admissions Requirements Advisement during an Information
Session
If
you would like course advisement during the Information Session, you should
plan to bring following materials with you to the session:
- download and complete a Program Advisement Worksheet
- all unofficial or student transcripts from any colleges you have attended
(even you do not think the courses are applicable); and
- a copy of the
course descriptions of any of the science courses you are using to fulfill
the prerequisite courses for admission (you can usually download course
descriptions from your college website or you may bring your course syllabus
instead).
If You Cannot Attend an Information Session: How to Receive Pre-Admissions
Advisement by Mail
If you are
unable to attend an Information Session, you may:
- download and complete a Program Advisement Worksheet
- enclose unofficial or student transcripts from all colleges you have
attended; and
- enclose a copy of the course descriptions of any of the science courses
you are using to fulfill the prerequisite courses for admission (you can
usually download course descriptions from your college website or you
may submit photocopies of your course syllabus instead).
Place all
of the items (1-3) together with
- a cover letter with your name, a complete
mailing address, the name of the program you are applying to and which
entry year, and
- a current email address. We will contact
you by email if we have any questions.

The Information Sessions for DMI are in Room 7-81, Health Science Education Building (HSEB).
Medical Informatics
The Information Sessions for Medical Informatics are in Room 7-81, Health Science Education Building.
Midwifery
The Information Session for Midwifery are in the Health Science Education Building.
Occupational Therapy Program
The Information Session for Occupational Therapy are in Room 7-43E, Health Science Education Building.
Two sessions are scheduled each evening.
Physician Assistant
The Information Sessions for Physician Assistant are in Room 8F/8G, Health Science Education Building.
Physical Therapy
The Information Sessions for Physical Therapy are in Classroom 740, Health Science Education Building.
