The Bursar's Office, located in the Basic Science Building (Room 1-128), is responsible for reporting and disbursing to the State Comptroller all money received at the Downstate Medical Center. These collections include tuition, fees, residence hall rent, admissions deposits, library fines and fees, and parking for our state garages.
The Bursar's Office also disburses all funds made available through Federal, State, and local loan and scholarship programs. Students are e-mailed when refund checks are issued and available for pick-up.
The cashier's window of the Bursar's Office is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Payment of most school charges can generally be deferred until approved financial aid is received by the school. We now offer an in-school payment plan for the payment of tuition.
Late charges are assessed for students who do not pay their tuition bills on time. For New students the due date for payment is provided on your tuition bill in the registration packets given to each student at orientation. All other continuing students must be sure and make payment by the published due dates. For specific late fee charges and payment due dates, please refer to the semester’s registration packet (new students only) and/or the student handbook for the current academic year, Bursar web page please click on tuition and fees.
Every semester all students MUST clear their tuition bill through the Bursar's office.
