Financial Aid Self-Service - How to access your Financial Aid information:

For new/incoming students:

You will not be able to log in and view your financial aid information on-line at present. You may accept your awards in person at our office: Monday to Thursday 9 to 5, Friday 10:00 to 5:00

For continuing/renewing students:

You can log in to the new Downstate portal site, Prime-Portal, in order to review and accept your Financial Aid awards, as well as to see any eligibility requirements.

PLEASE NOTE:
PRIME-PORTAL IS NOT THE SAME AS PRIME: The Prime-Portal campus portal site listed above is NOT the same as Prime, the campus login for educational activities online! You cannot log in to Prime-Portal by clicking on the “Prime” link at the top of the Downstate web site pages. You can access Prime-Portal by using the URL listed above, and by using the Financial Aid page’s login box. HYPHEN, NOT UNDERLINE: Be careful when typing the URL address for the new portal. It uses a dash (hyphen) between the words “prime” and “portal”, not an underline/underscore.

Login information:

To log in to the Downstate Prime-Portal site, use the same ‘official’ username (your Downstate SID, not your ‘human’ name) and password as the ones that you currently use to access your Downstate email and Prime accounts.

Where do I find my financial aid information?

Once you log in to Prime-Portal, note that there is a box at upper right called “Banner Self-Service”. (Banner is the Downstate student information database.) Click on the folder icon in the middle of the box to expand a series of links; then choose the Financial Aid link to view awards, etc.

You will be able to view and accept your 2007-2008 financial aid awards on-line once you have completed the 2007-2008 FAFSA application. You can also view requirements and be linked to other needed forms. You may wish to take the on-line Banner self service tutorial before you log in. Once you enter the Financial Aid part of the Banner Financial Aid Self Service Module you will have four choices:

  1. Financial Aid Status: You can view your requirements, costs of attendance, academic standing for financial aid, and the aid you have been awarded.
  2. Eligibility: Under this choice you will be able to view your student requirements. If the requirement is highlighted you may click on the requirement to link to the form/web page to complete your requirements.
  3. Award: Under this choice you will be able to view your aid, accept your awards, and see your loan history when your loan(s) have been processed.
  4. Loan Application History: Under this choice when your loans have been processed you will be able to view your loan history.

You should insure that you see what your requirements are under ELIGIBILITY and accept your awards under AWARD. If you have any questions specific to Financial Aid, you should contact the Office of Financial Aid at (718) 270-2488.
