Ethics Society

The Ethics Society was established to expose students of the health professions to issues concerning morality, honesty and the ethics of medicine, which are encountered daily.

The Ethics Society is open to all SUNY Downstate students.

The Ethics Society seeks to provide a means through which students can express their concerns regarding these issues, and a forum in which these concerns can be further pursued and brought to the attention of the greater community.

The Ethics Society sponsors a Brown Bag lunch during which we discuss the ethical issues in actual medical situations. These cases range from major national issues to events our medical students have experienced. A member of the Department of Humanities in Medicine attends each lunch and moderates our discussions. The Ethics Society also has hopes of publishing an independent newsletter.
