Online Nursing RN-BS Program

This program is a Fall start each year

RN-BS Program

The Bachelor of Science with a major in Nursing (RN-BS) Program at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is a 15-month full-time program open only to registered nurses and applicants who have obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from a nationally accredited college or university. The curriculum is based on the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Baccalaureate Essentials document, which delineates the expected outcomes for graduates of baccalaureate nursing programs.

The RN to BS curriculum is an innovative, fully on-line program designed to be flexible for working nurses. The faculty provides the highest quality nursing education at an affordable price to help nurses achieve their goal of attaining a baccalaureate education while being employed. The program is four (4) semesters of concentrated, progressive study so that students move through the curriculum together as a cohort.

The RN-BS Nursing Program requires a total of 120 credits. Upon acceptance to the program between 60–64 credits will be transferred in from previous colleges, 30 of which must be in nursing, the remaining 30 credits from liberal arts, sciences, and general education courses.

On enrollment in the program, the remaining 60 credits will be completed to achieve the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Nursing.
