Housing Tours Available!

We are now offering building tours for future residents!  During normal business hours visitors must visit 395 Lenox Road to answer COVID-19 screening questions and obtain a wristband to enter the facility for your tour.  Tour scheduling is preferred during by calling 718-270-1466 to alert us of your desired arrival time.  After 5pm and during weekend hours visitors must visit 450 Clarkson Avenue to answer COVID-19 screening questions and obtain a wristband to enter the facility.  Weekend tour scheduling is required.  Please email us at residentiallife@downstate.edu to schedule. 

Housing Move-in Information

Our check-in to housing process for COM 2025 residential students will be facilitated on a staggered schedule beginning on July 29th through August 1st from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.  To maximize elevator use and social distancing, residents must sign up for a move-in shift by emailing us at residentiallife@downstate.edu . Residents who show up outside their assigned shift will not be permitted to check-in.  Please see the bulleted list below with important move-in information:

  • Check-in will occur at the reception desk at 811 New York Avenue. Cars may be unloaded at 394 Lenox Road (the main entrance to the residence halls).  Temporary parking is available for those moving-in around the corner on 34th Street, for your move-in day only.
  • You and your helpers are expected to cover your face and nose with a mask while maintaining social distancing.
  • Upon arrival at 811 NYA, please proceed to the reception desk to receive your check-in materials.
  • Residents are permitted to bring helper(s) into the residence halls to assist them in moving-in provided they present a CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card or a current NYS Excelsior Pass to the Security Officer upon signing in.
  • Helpers may not come to campus if they have been ill with any respiratory symptoms or fever.
  • Carts to assist you with moving your items in will be available in each 1st floor lobby. You will not be required to sign-out the cart; however, you will be expected to return the cart to the 811 NYA 1st floor lobby for sanitizing.
  • Two residents will share one elevator car for the two-hour block. Please be courteous with your fellow classmate(s) during this process.
  • Once you’re done using the elevator, please report back to the reception desk to alert staff so we can sanitize the elevator car for the next time slot.
  • The ID Card Office located in 825-105 will be open on Thursday, Friday, and over the weekend. Hours will be posted at the reception desk.  Residents are strongly encouraged to take your ID Card photos during this time save time during the following week’s orientation program.

 

Resident Guest Policy Update

Effective immediately residents of 811 & 825 NYA may host guest(s) as described on pages three and four of the 2020-2021 Residential Life & Services Student Handbook provided guest(s) have presented a valid CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card or a current NYS Excelsior Pass to the Security Officer upon signing in.
